David Cales is a 2005 shortstop/right handed pitcher from Chicago, Illinois with a solid body that shows good strength at 6 ft. 0 177 pounds. He has a simple approach to hitting with good balance and quiet hands with no load. He is very strong and generates a lot of bat speed with a line drive type swing that shows effort. He showed big time power potential to the pull side. The ball explodes off the bat. Defensively, he has quick hands, and a smooth release with good arm strength. He has great instincts and is much quicker than his 60 time would lead you to believe. He is a solid force up the middle. He pitches with a quick arm and some effort. He showed good command of his 88 mph fastball with lots of life. His slider was very sharp at 82 mph. He is a very good hitter with solid defensive skills and he will make a big impact at the next level. David is a good student who has signed with Missouri.
