Daniel Marrs is a 2008 RHP/1B with a 6'3'', 195 lb. frame from Midlothian VA, who attends James River HS. He has a tall, strong athletic build with plenty of potential for more strength. Marrs has a multi-piece delivery that shows lots of arms and legs to the hitters as deception. He throws from a high 3/4's release point and has exceptional arm speed and arm strength. Marrs threw just fastballs and change ups in Fort Myers and threw several fastballs 93-94 mph and didn't throw a fastball under 91 mph. He threw both a straight change and a split change and both are good, with the split having the potential to be a strikeout pitch in the future. All the stuff is there for Marrs to be a one of the top pitching prospects in the country and his command and pitching mechanics are developing well. As if to highlight his arm strength, Marrs took infield drills at first base and threw 90 across the infield, which you almost never see because the body rotation and lower body momentum is different than throwing from shortstop in drills. Marrs also swung the bat in Fort Myers and showed his raw power and strength, although he has an all or nothing approach hitting that will not maximize contact. Marrs is also an excellent student. He was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team.
