Daniel Hudson -- Hudson is a talented and projectable junior pitcher with a great 6-2, 185 lb. frame to build on. He throws from a standard ¾’s release point with a short, compact arm stroke in back and good extension out front. Hudson does fall off to first base some on his finish, about the only serious quibble we’d have with his mechanics. His fastball was mostly 84-86 mph with some tailing action for 4 innings of work. Hudson’s best secondary pitch was a 73-75 mph change up that he kept good arm speed on and created good sink. His curveball was 64-67 and while it got decent spin on occasion, this pitch can be tightened up. Hudson was around the strike zone with all his pitches, too. It’s worth noting that Hudson took a great batting practice and could have the ability to hit at the next level, also. He really has a nice swing and projects lots of power in the future. Daniel is a good student.
