James Najera is a 2008 OF/MIF with a 5'10'', 165 lb. frame from Ft. Washington, Maryland, who attends De Matha Catholic High School. Najera has a medium build with an athletic and lively frame. He is a solid runner in the sixty, and runs well on the bases. Defensively he has solid footwork in the outfield, and threw 77 mph with online carry showing projectable arm strength. At the plate he is a he is listed as a switch hitter who hits from a balanced stance with a low hand set. Najera has solid bat speed through the hitting zone that should allow him to catch up to higher velocity pitchers. He also gets leverage at the point of contact showing projectable power. His hands work well, and he has bat head control. Once on the bases, he has instincts and quickness to take the extra base. He is an outstanding student as well.
