Ryan Abbey is a 2023 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-0 145 lb. frame from Mamaroneck, NY who attends Rye Neck Senior. Recorded a 8.35 second sixty-yard dash time. Long, slender frame with a high waist and plenty of room to fill out. Primary right-handed pitcher, works exclusively from the stretch, deceptive delivery with hesitation at balance and lots of arms/legs coming at the hitter. Works most from a three-quarters arm slot, varying it on occasion to disrupt hitters timing. Fastball worked in the upper-60s for the most part, topping out at 71 mph in this look with gradual arm-side run to it as it got through the zone. Breaking ball is still in the developmental stages, varying in shape and showing slurve action when best. Secondary first baseman; developing defensive skill with deliberate footwork around the bag, deeper fielding position and accurate throws across the diamond. Recorded arm strength up to 70 mph in drills. Will continue to improve as he physically matures and add strength. Excellent Student.
