Jorge Ian Nieves is a 2023 C/OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Vega Baja, PR who attends El Shaddai Christian Academy. Good length to a thin build with long limbs that can fill out and project with added strength. Ran a 7.24 in the 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, starts from a two knee set and high crouch. Gains ground with some momentum downhill in his exchange. Softer hands a quality transfer into accurate throws on a line. Shows developing arm strength. Right-handed hitter, open stance and wider base from a high hand set and high back elbow. Quick hands match plane and solid lift out front. Took in-sync swings that showed promising strength to both gaps. Has some feel to go the other way with intent on occasion. Good student.
