Benjamin Abel is a 2021 C/1B/3B with a 5-10 210 lb. frame from Austin, TX who attends Stephen F Austin. Large physical build with room to strengthen as he continues to develop. Primary catcher, sets up in a lower crouch with his feet close together. Shows some good quickness out of it and gains ground on his throws. Short arm action, displays comprehension for his framing work. Posted a 2.01 second pop time down to second base. At the plate, uses a tall and upright stance with a simple stride trigger. High back elbow, looks to drive the ball with every swing. Middle to pull side approach with some quickness to his hands. Great student in the classroom as well.
