Joshua Martinez is a 2023 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-0 145 lb. frame from Homeland, CA who attends Heritage. Primary left-handed pitcher with a young frame and plenty of room to fill out. Has a cross body delivery, starting with a small side step and belt high leg lift before landing slightly closed at foot strike. Creates a tough angle for hitters from the mid three-quarter slot, sitting at 73-75 miles per hour with the fastball and throwing plenty of strikes. Slider has tight shape and sweeping action in the mid-60s when on time with the hand, and there is also developing feel for a changeup at 65 miles per hour as well. Repeats well and can move it around the zone. Also worked out in the outfield, creating good direction through the fielding process and working low with the glove. Has a compact arm action, generating some carry to throws at 80 miles per hour. Left-handed hitter that starts from a slightly crouched and open stance, with a high back elbow and opposite field approach. Uses the lower half well and showcases good feel for the barrel and bat-to-ball skills. Developing power that will come with added strength in the frame.
