Matt Kalfas is a 2023 LHP/OF with a 6-0 155 lb. frame from Merrick, NY who attends Calhoun. Slender athletic build with lots of room to get stronger. Full hands over head delivery on the mound, deep extended arm action in back, 3/4's arm action with good drive and extension down the mound. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, works the corners with good late life, has an idea how to spot his fastball and stays out of the middle of the strike zone. Curveball was a quality pitch, good power and arm speed and a sharp 12/6 downer shape. Knows how to pitch and pounds the zone, if he can get stronger and tick up his velocity this could become very interesting. Left handed hitter, hits from an open stance, hands load tense and can be loosened up, middle of the field line drive approach, flashed some power when pulling the ball. 7.08 runner in the sixty. Has athletic actions in the outfield on defense and moves through the ball, easy arm action with good carry. Excellent student.
