2020 California Workout Camp (Saturday)
Joshua Ramos is a 2023 3B/RHP, 1B with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends San Diego International Studies. Medium build with room to fill into as he continues to develop. Primary infielder, fields out in front and is developing his approach to his backhand side. Good athleticism while on the move, showcases an ability to make accurate throws while on the run. On the mound, has a shorter arm action from a high three-quarters slot. Does a great job of controlling his front side down the mound. Works exclusively out of the stretch. Fastball sits 72-74 mph, looks to pound the outer half of the zone with his fastball. Solid command to both sides of the plate. Keeps his 11-to-5 shaped curveball down in the zone, smaller overall shape to it. Also mixes in a 67 mph straight changeup. At first base, stays in front of the ball well and makes good reads off the bat. Makes strong throws to all bags even while spinning. At the plate, uses an open and upright stance with hands that set up close to his ear. Simple stride trigger, at his best when working his hands inside the baseball. Power tool will develop nicely alongside his build. Excellent student in the classroom as well.
