Athen Malone is a 2024 RHP/1B with a 6-1 210 lb. frame from Covina, CA who attends Charter Oak. Strong and physical build. Works from the stretch with a full arm swing takeaway, high 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 95 mph and maintained his velocity well, creates lots of downhill angle on his fastball and gets on top of it well, gets ride up in the zone with up to 21" of vertical. Nice change up with big running life at times. Slider was his third best pitch this outing, will need to improve his breaking ball to take the next step. Good student, verbal commitment to Cal State Fullerton.
