Owen Black is a 2023 3B/RHP/1B with a 5-11 200 lb. frame from Murfreesboro, NC who attends Gates County. Medium build with some present strength and the potential for more. Right handed hitter, hits from a slightly open stance with a high hand load and a short stride into contact, has a good hand path to the ball and can make adjustments during his swing, has strength at contact and showed the ability to back spin the ball and get it to carry, will keep improving as he develops more consistency and strength. 7.95 runner, has young actions in the infield on defense, glove tends to be late getting down, low slot throwing the ball, best skill was charging the ball. Also pitched, big side step start, compact arm action from a 3/4's arm slot, tends to fall off line during his delivery. Mid-70's fastball, mostly straight, developing spin and feel for his curveball. Bat is his best tool at present. Very good student.
