Jan Marrero is a 2024 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-1 160 lb. frame from Catano, PR who attends Leadership Christian Academy. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and long limbs, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.76 60-yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher, side step moving into a higher leg lift, works with a compact and quick arm action through the back up to a high three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 81 mph early and showed running life, best when working on top of the ball, projects for more velocity moving forward. Short 1-7 shape with curveball and makings of depth, occasionally gets slurvey with finish. Fields the ball to side in the outfield, similar short arm action, gets it out fast and shows quickness to hands with present strength on throws. Left-handed hitter, begins with an open stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a short leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Long swing path through the zone, occasionally gets to front side early with weight shift, handsy swing with comfort working to the middle of the field. Project s well with added strength, smoothness to barrel plane through the zone, shows flashes off of the barrel when squared. Very good student.
