Luis A Lorenzo is a 2023 SS/RHP, 2B with a 5-11 145 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends ESB Academy. Medium frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary shortstop with active footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Funnels out front and worked through exchange quickly. Loose arm circle at separation and released from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Throws generated some on line carry to the bag at 79 mph. Right handed hitter balanced stance and high back elbow set. Compact path to contact with a linear barrel plane. Shows balance in swing while utilizing a mid field approach. Flashed good feel for the barrel with the ability to work the ball to all fields as well. Also pitched utilizing a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays flexed on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Medium arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball created occasional downhill tilt with located to the bottom quadrants of the zone in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 79 mph. Curveball had 10/5 shape with solid spin and good depth in the upper 60's. Looked to challenge hitters within the zone and induce weak contact. Good student as well.
