2020 Mid-Atlantic Indoor Showcase (Sunday)
Ryan Smolen is a 2021 3B/1B, OF with a 5-11 195 lb. frame from Odenton, MD who attends Dematha Catholic. Recorded a 7.39 second 60-yd dash time. Long, thick frame with some present strength. Primary third basemen showed a developing defensive skill set with active footwork, while using a segmented funnel and exchange. Utilized a higher three-quarters arm slot while generating accurate throws recorded up to 68 mph. Right-Handed hitter with a high hand set, small leg lift trigger and high back elbow. Showed ability to produce steady, firm line drive contact with extension and power to the pull side. Given his long limbs and ability to get the barrel through the zone, will continue to improve with added swing refinement. Excellent Student.
