2020 Fall East Coast Showcase
Cam Jones, Jr. is a 2022 OF/C with a 5-8 155 lb. frame from La Plata, MD who attends Bishop McNamara HS. A gifted and twitchy athlete, Cam is starting to show skills on the baseball field that certainly project to the next level. His emerging ability is rooted in a sound fundamental approach. In addition to to being a solid next level prospect, Cam is also a noted student in the classroom. He ran an elite level and highly impressive, 6.54 60 yard dash. A primary outfielder, Cam uses his ultra quick feet to position with deliberate intent and a sound plan. He plays through the fielding action consistently. His glove plays and his transition to throw is commendable. His impressive 85 mph throwing velo allows his tosses to be firm and true to the base. Cam's projectability is enhanced by his ability at the plate. He can swing the bat. His operation is very quick and consistent. He is basically a pull hitter, but his plan is sound and he never deviates. There is noticeable whip in his swing and his flatter plane allows him to get his barrel to and through contact with force. He did flash some projectable power potential. Cam has some obvious upside that will only get better as he realizes better competition and reaches his full physicality through attention to conditioning and the weight room. Big things lie ahead for this promising prospect.
