2020 South Prospect Showcase
Hayden Price is a 2021 RHP/MIF with a 6-1 193 lb. frame from Checotah, OK who attends Checotah HS. Hayden is a physically gifted athlete and player. His strong build is impressive. In addition to being a solid prospect on the diamond, Hayden is also a recognized scholar. He ran a 7.72 60 yard dash. A primary pitcher, Hayden shows pronounced physicality. He uses and higher leg lift and a shorter arm action to start his operation. His H 3/4 slot is repeated routinely. His 78-82 mph fastball shows sound command and control and he works the edges of the plate well. On occasion, he'll cut his fastball just enough to miss barrels. His 73 mph slider is more of a hybrid breaking ball that he has the ability to manipulate between a sweeper and a more traditional curveball. The velo on his breaking pitch really never changes, so his plan is obviously to change eye levels and spin look and he does well with that. At the plate, Hayden displays excellent feel for his offensive game. His strong and athletic presence really shows through with a stick in his hands. He has a definite power approach. He sits on his back leg and explodes through the shift with some upward lift in his bat plane. There is no doubt he wants to damage the baseball. There is obvious strength and quickness in his hands and when his timing is sound, the ball travels. There is certain projectability in Hayden's game.
