Brad Grindlinger is a 2023 RHP/IF, OF with a 5-7 130 lb. frame from Huntington Beach, CA who attends Huntington Beach. Young, square shouldered frame with a lean and projectable build, room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran an 8.35 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, short rock step behind mound leading into a high leg lift, gets tall on backside with a long arm action through the back; works to a three-quarters release point with a high lead arm. Creates extension towards the plate, some effort at release, inconsistent release point; fastball topped out at 74 mph, flashes short running life. Curveball shows short shape with two-plane action up to 66 mph. Takes short steps to the ball in the outfield and moves well to it, opens front side prior to release, occasionally gets under the ball at release. Fields it out front well in the infield, some effort with an extra step through release, works to a lower slot on throws and shows carry across. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; loads hands at start and utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing. Does a nice job of getting the barrel out front, can shorten load in swing but shows a handle for the barrel. Can work the middle and opposite parts of the field with comfort and can turn on it too, occasional lift to path. Excellent student.
