Nick Andrakin is a 2018 C/RHP, 1B, 3B, OF with a 6-1 215 lb. frame from Petaluma, CA who attends Petaluma. Large frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Primary catcher with an even, balanced stance while receiving the baseball. Gains ground towards the bag with quick, clean footwork. Compact glove circle while working through exchange and released from a compact three-quarters arm slot. Throws producing accurate carry topping at 73 miles per hour, best workout pop time 2.19. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, even stance and high back elbow set. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended path to baseball with a naturally lifted barrel plane through extension. Swung with intent and showed good strength at contact producing loud contact to gaps when squared. Flashed very good carry to pull side when throwing barrel head to baseball. Also pitched working exclusively from the stretch. Simple, smooth leg lift and stayed balanced on back side. Utilizing lower half well employing drop and drive actions to the plate. Deep arm circle at take back and released from an over top arm slot. Fastball generated good downhill plane through the zone with heavy life, topped at 85 miles per hour. Consistently located fastball to the bottom of the zone and effectively induced weak contact. Curveball had 11/5 shape with good spin and solid depth when staying on top of offering at finish. Very good student. Named to the 2017 California Uncommitted Showcase, Top Prospect List.
