Joey Crews is a 2021 OF/RHP with a 5-10 140 lb. frame from Naples, FL who attends St. John Neumann. Medium frame with a lean build. Projects for additional strength. Primary outfielder with smooth paced, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Funnels out front and maintains momentum to target while working through exchange. Loose glove circle and released from a three-quarters slot. Throws produced uphill carry to the bag topping at 73 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended hand path to contact with a level, line drive barrel plane through extension. Looks to connect with baseball out front and throw bat head. Primarily utilized a mid field approach but flashed the ability to work to the pull side gap as well. Also pitched working exclusively from the stretch. Small leg lift and creates some shoulder tilt forward at gather. Compact arm circle at take back and repeated from a side arm slot. Fastball generated good running action back to arm side in the mid to upper 60's, topped at 68 miles per hour. Consistently looked to attack hitter to the bottom of the zone while displaying developing feel for the edges of the plate. Good student as well.
