Luis Garcia is a 2022 SS/RHP, 2B with a 5-8 136 lb. frame from Brownsville, TX who attends Pace. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable frame with room to fill throughout with physical growth. Ran a 7.56 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, fields the ball out front and hands play well, wide base at the ball, funnels into a clean release and overall arm strength will continue to develop with physical gains, takes longer strides going up the middle, shows an understanding for actions and can create carry on throws from back leg. Also pitched, simple delivery with quick gather, simple hip turn at top of delivery and can continue to incorporate physical half into drive. Generates whip to arm action with a three-quarters release point; flashed short sinking life to fastball which topped out at 77 mph early in outing. Gets inconsistent with release point, flashed an 11-5 shaped curveball at 67 mph with short depth. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and low back elbow at the start with an open stance and a wrapped start. Contact oriented approach, able to work the middle and opposite parts of the field while getting the barrel out front at point of contact. Gets uphill with path at times, generates extension out front and projects nicely. Very good student.
