LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2023 Midwest Prospect Showcase
Nic Sabers is a 2026 1B/LHP, OF with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Lenexa, KS who attends St. Thomas Aquinas. A taller frame with a medium build and some strength showing. Ran a 7.73 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman who used one-handed fielding with good actions as he fielded it. Showed off a shorter arm action with quick and whippy throws through release. Clean feeds to second base with a good feel for the footwork. Threw 82 mph across the diamond to third base as well. Also worked out as an outfielder with some pace working to it, fielding one-handed off the front foot. He also had some quickness to the arm here, keeping throws on target with one-hop accuracy to the plate. Throws were on a lower flight at 79 mph from a longer three-quarters release. A right-handed hitter with higher-set hands and the back elbow up in an even base. He used a leg lift trigger to get on time and showed good turns through the zone. He creates some barrel whip through the zone and is able to time it up well. Showed strength at impact and the ability to work uphill through contact. His best contact came working to the middle of the field during his round of BP swings, and he was able to lift a couple of balls pull-side. The bat speed was present, and he leveraged the ball well during his round. Produced an 81 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing. He caught a few barrels in-game as well, adding a base knock to his credit. Took to the mound as a left-handed pitcher who worked out of the stretch. He had a leg lift just above the belt before moving down the mound well with good extension. He hid the ball well with his arm circle through the back. Released from a higher three-quarters angle and had a clean arm stroke overall with a shorter delivery. The fastball had some angle to it, working up to 78 mph, showing arm-side life. He also flashed a changeup that had really good depth to it, working into the upper-60s. Killed spin on the changeup well, pronating and letting it fall off the table to induce a couple of whiffs. Excellent student. Named to 2023 Midwest Prospect TP List.
