Walker Buchanan is a 2023 OF/1B with a 6-3 200 lb. frame from Jupiter, FL who attends The Benjamin School. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present physical strength proportioned throughout. Ran a 6.99 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, does a nice job of rounding the ball and working behind it, gets too quick with actions at times, extended three-quarters release, will continue to refine overall release moving forward. Right-handed hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate, does a nice job of incorporating physical strength into swing. Long path through the zone, ball jumps off of the barrel with authority, looks to elevate at the point of contact and able to do so successfully often. Bat speed through the zone stands out, generates real carry deep off of the barrel when squared. Very good student. Verbal commitment to Virginia.
