2019 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Sam Melton is a 2021 SS/OF with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Cartersville, GA who attends Cartersville HS. Sam is a solidly built, broad shouldered athlete. He shows projectable, multi-position ability. He ran a 7.51 60-yard dash. On the infield, Sam shows deliberate, but sure actions to field. His glove is routinely sound and his arm, as evidenced by his 78-mph velocity across the diamond, has plenty of strength. In the outfield, his footwork is consistent and his arm plays a little better, as the velocity on his throws were up to 80-mph. His fielding momentum and ability to use a longer and more certain arm stroke, allows his throws to show carry and accuracy. At the plate, Sam uses a wider base and a steeper plane to drive pitches from gap-to-gap. His present ability to power the baseball projects to a solid future at the plate. Academically, Sam is an eceptional student.
