Jacob Ruiz is a 2021 SS/RHP, 2B with a 6-0 187 lb. frame from Eagle Pass, TX who attends Eagle Pass. Medium, athletic frame with room to add strength. Recorded a 7.10 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary shortstop with quick feet, balance and athleticism that allows for him to field cleanly out in front with soft hands and a quick transfer. Shows ability to throw from all necessary arm angles with accurate throws across the diamond, recorded up to 82 MPH in drills. Right-handed hitter with slightly open stance, positive weight shift into contact while using a simple toe-tap trigger for timing. Middle-of-the field approach with present bat speed, consistent bat-to-ball skills and flashes of some pull-side pop. Secondary right-handed pitcher, athletic delivery with quick twitch movements down the slope, working into a high three-quarters arm slot that is short and quick on the backside. Commands both halves of the plate with fastball fairly well, working in the mid-to-upper 70s and topping out at 79 MPH. Excellent feel for spin for secondary pitcher, flashing a well-tunneled curveball with 11-to-5 shape for strikes regularly. Very solid overall tools with some potential upside with added strength.
