Tyson Patrick is a 2021 RHP/2B with a 5-7 126 lb. frame from Chino Hills, CA who attends Chino Hills High School. Young, square shouldered build with a lean, projectable frame and room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary righthanded pitcher, deliberate tempo to delivery with a short leg lift at top, short and on line stride down the mound. Short and tight arm action through the back working to a low three-quarters release, showed nice command of fastball and located down in the zone well. Fastball topped out at 70 mph, mostly straight, and projects with additional strength. Flashed curveball with 11-5 shape at 58 mph and will continue to develop consistent feel. Fluid actions in the outfield and plays through the ball well, fields out front, clean arm action through the back and works from a three-quarters release point. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Utilizes a short leg lift trigger for timing, stays short to the ball and gets the barrel to it. Upper body dominant swing with contact oriented approach, line drive swing plane through the zone, occasionally gets to front side early. Patient approach with quiet swing and is able to work the opposite field. Good student.
