Samson Pugh is a 2023 SS/RHP, 3B, MIF, OF with a 5-10 145 lb. frame from Montgomery, TX who attends Lake Creek. Medium, athletic frame wiht square shoulders and al ean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.58 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, takes short and quick steps to the ball, can set feet better through release, showed athleticism ranging up the middle and has a smooth transfer, works on top of the ball well. Graded out better in this look from the outfield, fields the ball out front, shorter arm stroke through the back and shows quickness to arm, carry out of hand and shows accuracy, quick to the ball and attacks it well. Also pitched, higher leg lift at start with a hip turn at top; quick arm working to a three-quarters slot and shows solid mechanics through release. Fastball topped out at 76 mph, pitched mostly off his fastball and pitched to contact, did mix in an 11-5 shaped curveball with short depth and landed it for strikes. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow in the box; utilizes an aggressive approach in the box. Stays direct to the ball with hands and creates lift at point of contact with a full path through the zone. Occasionally gets under the ball but shows looseness throughout with some back spin coming off to his pull side; get create better extension out front and shows tools that project moving forward.
