Griffin Stieg is a 2022 RHP/3B, OF with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from McLean, VA who attends McLean. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and a high waist, long limbs with a projectable build and room to fill throughout, has present strength too. Ran a 7.30 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, worked exclusively out of the stretch, belt high leg lift at balance point and incorporated lower half well into drive; worked to a consistent three-quarters release point once settled in and topped out at 78 mph, worked around the zone and shows an array of off speed. Curveball showed nice spin up to 63 mph with 11-5 shape and similar release as on fastball, slider was thrown a tick hard up to 66 mph with late break and some depth; flashed changeup also at 66 mph. impressed from the outfield with athleticism to action, sound footwork to and through the ball, works through it with a full arm action, gets on top and shows accuracy with present arm strength. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and lower back elbow at the plate. Hands begin away and add some length to path, can short for more consistent barrel and extension. Found the barrel well in live action, incorporates physical strength well and shows solid carry to the right-center field gap with jump off the barrel and leverage out front. Nice tools on both sides of ball that should continue to develop. Named to 14U Southeast Top Prospect List. Very good student.
