Nicolas Gullo is a 2019 SS/RHP, 3B with a 6-0 163 lb. frame from Dripping Springs, TX who attends Dripping Springs High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front and shows a quick transfer and release out of glove, easy actions and shows nice footwork around bag on turns, good angles to the ball, some bend at waist, easy arm action through the back and gets on top of throws, accurate across the diamond with carry out of hand. Also pitched, side step moving into delivery with a slight pause at top of delivery, leg lift up to belt before striding on line down the mound towards the plate. Full arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release point. Gets on top of fastball well and topped out at 85 mph, mostly true in life with occasional running life when locating arm side. Flashed a short, late breaking ball up to 73 mph with 11-5 shape. Repeats mechanics well on changeup with maintained arm speed, generates short fading life at 74 mph and throws strikes. Induced contact early in the count, velocity projects with an uptick in momentum and additional lower half incorporated. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate with a wide, slightly open stance. Upper body dominant swing, shows quickness to hands with a linear swing path through the zone. Gets to front side early at times, utilizes a pull side approach and turns on the ball well with line drive contact coming off, hard contact off the barrel when squared. Showed skills on both sides of the ball. Good student.
