2018 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Bayron Acevedo is a 2020 LHP/OF with a 5-8 162 lb. frame from Palmetto, FL who attends Palmetto HS. Compact frame with a lean build. Projects for additional strength. Primary left handed pitcher with a simple rock step to high leg lift delivery. Creates slight coil over back leg while staying tall at gather. Works to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball created good downhill plane with run and sink in the low to mid 80's, topped at 85 miles per hour. Consistently pounded the zone with fastball and showed the ability to locate to each edge of the plate. Curveball had 1/7 shape with tight spin and late depth. Also flashed slider offering with hard sweep to glove side in the low 70's. Changeup generated tumble to the bottom of the zone in the low 70's. Consistently repeated mechanics with good feel for all four pitches. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing clean footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Maintains momentum towards target and released from an over top arm slot. Throws produced stiff, on line carry to the bag topping at 89 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and hanging front side trigger. Created some linear shift into contact with lower half. Direct hand path to baseball with a fluid, naturally lifted barrel plane through extension. Displayed present bat speed through the zone while looking to lift the ball to the gaps. Good student. Named to the 2018 National Underclass Main Event Showcase, Top Prospect List.
