Ben McDaniel is a 2020 C/1B/RHP with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Yatesville, GA who attends Upson-Lee HS. Medium frame with a strong build. Primary catcher with a wide lower half while setting up to receive the baseball. Gains ground towards the bag while employing fundamentally sound footwork. Clean exchanges and released from a three-quarters slot. Throws produced on line carry to the bag topping at 75 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 2.06. Right handed hitter with an athletic stance and large leg lift trigger. Moves into contact with lower half aggressively. Loose hand path to baseball and displayed good strength at contact. Ball jumped off the barrel well when squared and looked to drive the ball to each gap. Also pitched showing a small rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Compact arm circle and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball flashed some run to arm side in the upper 70's, topped at 80 miles per hour. Curveball showed 12/6 shape with some downward depth when staying on top of offering. Also flashed a straight changeup in the mid 60's. Primarily looked to work ahead of hitters early in counts with fastball. Very good student as well.
