Russell Coleman is a 2018 1B/OF/LHP with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Hattiesburg, MS who attends Hattiesburg HS. Medium athletic build with loose athletic actions, has some prjection physically. Left handed hitter, simple short swing with repeatable mechanics and timing, contact approach, works the middle of the field with an inside swing path, patient hitter who sees the ball. 7.36 runner, has quick feet around the first base bag and shows soft hands and good agility, makes accurate throws. Also pitched, deep arm action in back, high 3/4's arm slot, lots of good downhill angle to the plate, has a clean delivery. Mid 70's fastball, mostly straight, works down in the zone with his angle and throws strikes, soft curveball for strikes as well. Good fundamental player who will get better as he gets stronger. Good student.
