2007 Atlantic Coast Top Showcase
Trevor Edwards is a 2008 C/3B with a 6'2'', 205 lb. frame from Toronto, ON who attends Taddle Creek Academy. He has a big, strong frame with very good present strength. Edwards is a left handed hitting catcher with serious power potential and was the most dominant hitter at the showcase. He hits from a big coiled load with low hands to start his swing. Edwards attacks the ball aggressively with very good bat speed and drives it hard to the middle of the field. He hit a couple of balls that looked pretty normal off the bat and ended up carrying 400' off the centerfield wall. There is definitely a lot of juice in his bat that should continue to improve. Defensively, Edwards has good quickness for a big framed catcher and moves well behind the plate. He has a low rotational release on his throws but shows good arm strength and pop times consistently around 2.00. He has plenty of room to improve his catching fundamentals but the athletic ability and tools are there. Left handed hitting catchers with pop are rare and Edwards is one of them. He is a good student off the field
