Luke Anderson is a 2020 1B/LHP, OF with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Calamus, IA who attends Central. Large frame with long limbs and wiry strength. Frame projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.31 sixty-yard dash. Primary first baseman with fundamental footwork while surrounding the baseball and working around the bag. Clean glove actions with efficient glove to hand exchanges. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot produced accurate carry across the infield, topped at 75 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing deliberate footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Clean glove action while funneling with smooth paced actions while transitioning. Topped at 77 miles per hour producing some carry to the bag. Left handed hitter with an upright, open stance and high back elbow set. Loose, extended path to contact with a lifted plane through extension. Flashed the ability to turn barrel and work to pull side as well. Flashed best swing plane when staying behind contact and working to the middle of the field. Also pitched showing a three-quarters arm slot with solid sinking action down in the zone with a fastball offering that topped at 79 miles per hour. Created some jump out of hand with fastball due to good arm extension out front at finish. Good feel for a curveball offering that had 1/7 shape with tight rotation and solid depth. Projects for additional velocity with continued development of lower half and physical maturity. Higher ceiling as a pitching prospect at this time. Very good student as well.
