Braydon Hawthorne is a 2023 SS/RHP, 3B, MIF with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Conroe, TX who attends Willis HS. A player who has the fundamental skills and athleticism to grow his game as he matures physically and gains experience in upper division play, Braydon, is a big effort guy who plays with great energy. In addition to his max effort level on the field, Braydon is also an exceptional student. A primary middle infielder, Braydon displays footwork and glove play that will certainly aide him as he climbs the ladder in high school ball and advanced summer play. He shows smooth actions with his hands and is especially talented at turning the double play. He shows competent skills on the left side, but his talent really plays well at second base. His 82 mph velocity allows his throws to hold plane and his accuracy is a plus. Braydon also pitches in a secondary role. He is a strike thrower who uses simple and repeatable mechanics highlighted by a 3/4 arm slot and an ability to pitch down the slope consistently. His 77-79 mph fastball shows a little sink and is especially effective when thrown to the edges of the dish. He mixes in a commendable 72 mph change-up that tunnels from his fastball slot and has noticeable depth at the dish. At the plate, Braydon utilizes an easy and smooth operation that lets his hands work well. He has a pronounced low leg lift and a simple stride. He fires his barrel well with a contact first mentality. He has the swing action that should allow for some growth in power as he matures physically. Braydon's fundamental make-up and attention to detail, should help him progress upward as his career continues.
