Andrew Southern is a 2021 3B/RHP, 2B, SS with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Cumming, GA who attends West Forsyth. Medium frame with broad shoulders and beginnings of strength. Primary third baseman with clean footwork while rounding the baseball. Flashed solid range to each side while moving to the baseball. Stays low while funneling the baseball out front and worked through exchange well. Released from a three-quarters slot but flashed the ability to throw with accuracy from multiple arm slots, topped at 76 mph. Right handed hitter with an even, upright stance and high hand set. Stacks back side at load and worked through extension on a line drive plane. Displayed good feel for the barrel with the ability to work to all fields. Flashed solid jump off the barrel with the strength to split the gaps when squared. Also pitched utilizing a simple, repeatable side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced on back side at gather and worked in line to the plate. Smooth arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed occasional run to arm side in the low to mid 70's, topped at 76 mph. Curveball had 12/6 shape with tight spin and compact depth in the low 60's. Also flashed a changeup offering in the mid 60's. Very good student.
