Jacob Cruz is a 2022 LHP/1B, OF with a 5-6 140 lb. frame from Waxahachie, TX who attends Waxahachie. Young, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.78 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, balanced delivery with tempo throughout, leg lift just above belt and does a nice job of working on top of the ball with extension out front. Smooth arm stroke through the back working to a high three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 71 mph, mostly true in life but with angle, shows occasional short life with some sink down in zone. Will continue to develop consistent release point, pitches to contact and works over front side well. Flashed a short curveball at 65 mph. Quickness to arm action in the outfield, takes short steps moving towards the ball, shows similar high slot on throws, carry to intended base when working on top of the ball. Lefthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Utilizes a contact oriented approach, gets closed with lower half moving into contact. Full swing path through the zone, upper body dominant swing, gets hands involved, full finish following contact, shows ability to work middle and opposite parts of the field.
