Joseph Abrams is a 2018 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from Riverside, CA who attends Arlington. Large frame with long limbs and an athletic build. Ran a 7.37 sixty-yard dash. Primary left handed pitcher with a simple leg lift delivery. Works to a slight flexed position on back side at gather. Utilized lower half well while driving to the plate with a compact stride. Worked over front side well and released from a mid to low three-quarters arm slot. Consistently located fastball to each edge of the plate with running action to arm side in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 81 miles per hour. Cruveball had 1/6 shape with sharp spin and hard, late depth in the upper 60's. Showed the ability to take some off of curveball and created softer 2/8 shape as well to keep hitters of balance. Commanded all three pitches very well and induced weak contact while missing barrels throughout each inning of work. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth paced, deliberate good work while closing to the baseball. Developing fluidity while picking up that baseball and working through transition. Topped at 76 miles per hour to the bag generating accurate carry. Left handed hitter with an upright even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Creates some shift into contact with lower half and hands launch on a loose path to contact. Generated an uphill barrel plane through extension while showing a mid-field to pull approach. Present strength at contact and created hard, loud line drives to the gaps when squared. Very good student as well.
