Sonny Hiday is a 2018 C/RHP, 3B, MIF with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Harrisburg, OR who attends Marist. Medium frame with an athletic build. Frame projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 7.23 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a taller stance while receiving. Gains some ground out of crouched with quick footwork. Loose glove circle while working through exchange and released from a three-quarters slot. Throws generated on line carry to the bag topping at 75 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance and simple front side trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Direct hand path to baseball with a level, line drive barrel plane. Flashed some bat speed through the zone and primarily utilized a mid field, line drive approach. Also pitched working exclusively from the stretch. Quick paced high leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side and works to plate with drop and drive actions. Quick arm circle at take back and released from an over top arm slot. Fastball generated good downward angle through the zone sitting in the low to mid 70's, topped at 75 miles per hour. Curveball had 12/6 shape with good spin and late, hard depth. Kept hitter off balance with breaking balls inducing weak contact as well as swings and misses.
