Ben Scartz is a 2019 SS/RHP, 2B with a 5-9 130 lb. frame from Grayson, GA who attends Grayson. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additoinal strength. Ran a 7.33 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with clean, sound footwork while ranging for and working through the baseball. Cleans beneath the baseball while funneling and worked through exchange efficiently. Flashed developing arm strength created some carry across the infield topping at 76 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Shifts into contact with linear lower half actions. Deep hand load and worked to contact on a loose, extended path. Level, line drive barrel plane through extension and employed a gap to gap approach. Consistently barrel the baseball to the middle of the field. Also pitched utilizing a short rock step to high leg lift delivery. Gather well at balanced and works to the plate with good rhythm. East arm action while releasing from an extended three-quarters slot. Fastball flashed solid riding life through the zone in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 79 miles per hour. Curveball had 10/4 shape with late sweeping bite in the upper 60's. Also flashed a changeup that had solid fade to arm side in the low 70's. Maintains arm speed well with each off speed offering and consistently changed speeds. Good mound presence and consistently worked to each edge of the plate. Excellent student.
