Cole Benton is a 2019 LHP with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Cerro Gordo, NC who attends West Columbus HS. Extra-large, athletic build with broad shoulders and long limbs, room to fill throughout moving forward, sports present strength. Primary lefthanded pitcher, gets tall on back side with leg lift up past belt and slight hip turn at top, strides closed with strike foot and works across body at release. Slight gather over rubber, throws from an extended three-quarters release point, releases the ball out front and able to generate sinking life down in zone with release, topped out at 82 mph. Pitches to contact and throws strikes and stays off barrels, works down in the zone and flashed a short 1-7 curveball at 70 mph; changeup at 75 mph. Projects with additional physical strength. Excellent student.
