Chris Jernigan is a 2018 RHP/OF with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Lilburn, GA who attends Parkview. Tall, long frame with a lean build. Present wiry strength throughout with projection for more. Primary right handed pitcher with a small rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall an balanced on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands in line with the plate on front side and carries momentum well through finish. Medium arm circle back at separation and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Produced good downward angle through the zone with a fastball offering that had running life to arm side, topped at 80 miles per hour. Slider had solid spin with some tilt to glove side in the low 70's. Also flashed a changeup offering in the low 70's as well. Changeup flashed some fade to arm side when turning over baseball. Consistently worked to the bottom of the zone with each pitch and induced weak ground ball contact. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing clean, sound footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions and works through transfer with developing fluidity. Full arm action at release and created accurate, on line carry to the bag topping at 79 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Shifts into contact with linear lower half actions. Inside path to contact and generating a lifted plane through extension. Showed solid barrel quickness and generated good bat speed at contact. Ball jumped off the barrel well creating solid carry to each gap. Excellent student.
