Jose Cevallos is a 2019 2B/RHP/SS with a 5-7 145 lb. frame from Upland, CA who attends Upland HS. Compact athletic build with good present strength for his size. Right handed hitter, hits from an open stance with a short and quick line drive swing, times up very well, has plus barrel control and some bat speed with gap to gap power, stays balanced and quiet at the plate. 7.32 runner, second base look and actions, has a very quick release on his throws and makes accurate throws, shows lower half quickness and side to side range. Also pitched, has ability on the mound. Simple turn and throw delivery with a very compact mid 3/4's arm slot, hides the ball extremely well. Showed four solid usable pitches and threw them for strikes interchangeably. 80 mph fastball had big running action, big sweeping slider was his best breaking ball, broke out a nice change up for a strikeout. Not a big quick twitch athlete but a very skilled baseball player in all aspects of the game. Good student.
