Matthew Hickman is a 2016 OF/UT with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from La Mirada, CA who attends La Mirada HS. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and nice present strength to frame. Ran a 6.93 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, takes short steps to the ball and moves well, quick arm at release, projects well with continued incorporation of lower half at release, tilts shoulders, fields the ball out front and gets on top of ball and works over front side. Right-handed hitter, starts with a wide base and a high hand set. Uses a leg lift trigger for timing and has a short weight shift through lower half while remaining balanced. Line drive swing plane with extension out front, has a feel for the barrel and bat speed through zone. Creates steady line drive contact to pull side and repeats swing. Good student.
