Hayden Brotz is a 2019 1B/RHP/3B with a 6-1 210 lb. frame from Lincolnshire, IL who attends Adlai E Stevenson HS. Large frame with broad shoulder and a strong build. Ran a 7.85 sixty-yard dash. Primary first baseman with fundamental footwork while centering the baseball and pivoting to second baseball. Clean, smooth glove actions while funneling and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Throws produced accurate carry to the bag topping at 79 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, even stance. Hands load to a deep, strong position. Lower half fires to contact with linear actions producing good shift into baseball. Loose, extended path to contact with a naturally leverage plane through extension. Stayed balanced while swinging with intent to drive the baseball with authority. Consistently squared up baseball producing loud, hard line drive contact. Also pitched showing a simple leg raise delivery. Utilizes lower half while driving to the plate and tends to let weight fall off to glove side at finish. Primarily released from a high three-quarters arm slot, but flashed a traditional three-quarters arm action as well. Fastball showed good life through the zone with some downhill angle in the low 80's, topped at 82 miles per hour. Slider has short action with some tilt and loose spin in the lower 70's. Flashed a knuckleball as well with occasional flutter. Consistently filled the zone early in counts and shows developing feel for each edge of the plate. Good follow. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Outstanding student as well.
