Austin Wainer is a 2020 RHP/MIF with a 5-10 145 lb. frame from Johns Creek, GA who attends Johns Creek HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 7.13 sixty-yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a small side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Loose arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Displayed good arm speed with a fastball offering that generating some heavy arm side run in the low 80's, topped at 82 miles per hour. Curveball had 12/6 shape with tight spin and late hard depth. Maintained arm speed well with breaking ball offering. Also flashed a quality changep with a deceptive arm action. Consistently kept hitters off balance and attacked the strike zone. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing smooth paced footwork while rounding and surrounding the baseball. Showed solid range to each side of the infield. Clean glove actions and worked through exchange efficiently. Released from a three-quarters arm slot creating stiff, accurate carry at 87 miles per hour. Right handed hitter an upright, open stance and reaching front side trigger. Generated some linear shift into contact with lower half. Coils hands at load and employed a loose, extended hand path to contact. Barrel came through the zone on line drive plane. Flashed solid feel for the barrel and consistently squared the baseball to the middle of the field between the gaps. Good student.
