Dawson Woods is a 2018 C with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Corsicana, TX who attends Corsica High School - 01. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects to additional size and strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 7.50 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher with a slightly side step, low stance with good hip flexion. Gains some ground while working out of crouch with explosive lower half actions. Extended exchanges and released from and over top slot showing solid arm strength. Throws generated solid on line carry to the bag with accuracy topping at 80 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 1.99. Left handed hitter with an upright, open stance. Lower half shows some linear actions into contact generating occasional shift. Compact, direct hand path to contact that generates occasional leverage through extension. When front side is balanced and on time flashes the ability to drive the baseball hard to the pull side gap. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Very good student. Named to the 2016 National Underclass South Showcase Top Prospect List.
