Braden Houston is a 2018 MIF/RHP with a 6-0 167 lb. frame from Iowa City, IA who attends Iowa City West. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects to support additional size and strength. Ran a 7.37 sixty-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, travels low to the baseball with fundamental footwork while surrounding and working through the baseball. Fluid glove actions while funneling out front and works through transition with clean actions. Flashed range to each side with the ability to release from multiple arm slots. Throws generated good on line carry to the bag topping at 84 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a crouched, slightly open stance and high back elbow set. Lower half works to baseball with rotational actions. Loose, extended path to contact with an uphill plane through extension. Primarily worked the baseball to the middle of the field with the ability to consistently drop bat head to pitches down in the strike zone. Also pitched showing a short rock step delivery to leg lift. Stays balanced at gather prior to a compact arm stab back at separation. Released from a high three-quarters arm slot creating some running action to arm side with a fastball that topped at 84 miles per hour. Curveball had 12/6 shape with good rotation and solid depth. Maintained arm speed with a changeup offering that flashed fading action in the low 70's. Consistently pounded the bottom of the strike zone creating weak contact. Excellent student.
