Bayden Root is a 2018 3B/RHP with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from Kokomo, IN who attends Kokomo HS. Strong athletic build, some projection still left. Two way prospect, graded out better on the mound this event. Easy loose arm action on the mound, gets lots of extension out front and stays on top of the ball. Fastball topped out at 90 mph, has been up to 92 mph at PG events, good power on his curveball and lands it for strikes, 11/5 shape. Developing change up with fade. Right handed hitter, compact swing, keeps his hands tight through the zone, line drive contact to all fields, has the strength to open up his swing and drive the ball with more separation. Father was drafted in the fifth round as a first baseman then converted to pitcher and peaked at AAA, son has the same profile. Good student, verbal commitment to South Carolina.
