James Tibbs III is a 2021 OF/LHP, 1B with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Pope HS. Medium frame with an athletic build and wiry strength. Projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 7.04 sixty yard dash. Primary outfielder with smooth paced, fundamentally sound footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Funnels off to side and works through exchange efficiently. Released from an over top arm slot producing accurate carry to the bag at 88 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from first base showing clean footwork while surrounding the baseball. Funnels out front and worked through exchange well. Produced stiff, accurate carry across the infield topping at 86 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a balanced stance and leg lift trigger. Looked to aggressively shift into contact with lower half. Employed a naturally lifted swing plane that created good leverage at contact. Displayed present bat speed through the zone that generated good jump and carry to each gap when squared. Very good student. Named to the 2018 National Underclass Showcase Top Prospect List.
